When Dunson decides to hang two of his cowboys for deserting the cattle drive, Matt Garth takes over the herd from Dunson. Dunson swears to catch Garth and kill him. As the cattle drive heads north, they save a wagon train full of gamblers and whores from an Indian attack. Garth falls in love with one of the rescued women, Tess Millay. He leaves her behind. When Dunson arrives at the wagon train with new men, Tess asks to come along for the final confrontation between Tom Dunson and Matt Garth.
